Anadolu Kultur
Artists and actors in civil society (including Osman Kavala, who remains Chair) founded Anadolu Kültür in 2002 with the ambition of supporting and disseminating artistic production in Istanbul and across cities in Turkey. Their mission embraces artistic and cultural exchange as a means to develop mutual understanding and dialogue, to overcome regional difference and prejudice. They play a key convening role for contemporary arts and culture in Turkey.
Anadolu Kültür run two cultural centres – Depo in Istanbul, and Diyarbakir Arts Center. They also manage programme around cultural dialogue, artistic expression, training and capacity building, cultural diversity and inclusion as well as a specific programme supporting cultural cooperation between Turkey and Armenia. The work manages to combine new contemporary commissioning with considered and ethical thinking about cultural memory and heritage.
Anadolu Kültür initiates and promotes cultural production by children, youth and disadvantaged groups such as Syrian migrants and those living in conflict zones, for supporting their social involvement.
