Bilitis Resource Centre Foundation (Bilitis)

Founded in 2004 as a support group for lesbians and bisexual women, Bilitis is Bulgaria’s leading LGBTI rights organisation. It is an important advocate for major issues such as the need for an inclusive hate crimes legislation, the recognition of same sex partnerships and gender recognition for transgender people. It offers psychosocial assistance and engages in research, advocacy and public education. It leads in organising the annual Sofia Pride and the LGBTI Festival. It collaborates with other LGBTI groups to run the Rainbow Hub community centre, providing advocacy training and dedicated support groups for youth; lesbian and bisexual women; transgender and intersex people; parents and relatives of LGBTI people; and people living with HIV.
