Firoz Lalji Institute for Africa (London School of Economics and Political Science)
Established in 2021, The Firoz Lalji Institute for Africa (FLIA) promotes the visibility of Africa at the London School of Economics (LSE) through multi-disciplinary teaching, research, debate, and evidence-based policy engagement. The Institute works across the social sciences, focusing on a broad range of topics, including health, security, economic growth, environmental issues, grassroots organisations, conflict and humanitarianism, and public authority.
The Trust’s grant specifically supports a leadership programme for Sudanese women refugees who mainly now reside in Egypt. The Programme, led by Dr Souad Mohamed, includes a needs assessment and then the development of a bespoke skills training.
