Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights

Established in 1989 by the Helsinki Committee in Poland, an underground organisation created during martial law in 1982, the Helsinki Foundation conducts an extensive programme of domestic and regional human rights trainings and raises public awareness of human rights issues through the WATCH DOCs film festival (the second largest of its kind in the world); conducts legislative and issue-specific monitoring and advocacy at the domestic level; and litigates in national and international courts.
