K-Monitor
Founded in 2007 by young volunteers as a grassroots initiative, K-Monitor has developed into one of Hungary’s leading anti-corruption NGOs. The organisation develops technological tools by which public expenses become trackable, decision makers can be held accountable, and methods for citizen participation in decision-making are promoted. Besides technology projects, K-Monitor conducts research and advocates for legal reform both at the local and national level. Issues that the organisation has addressed include political finance, asset declarations, whistleblower protection, public procurement, freedom of information, lobbying, and local governance & civic participation. K-Monitor also works with other Hungarian NGOs to improve the use of data and technology by civil society.
