London Advocacy Group – The Arrested Lawyers Initiative (TALI)
The London Advocacy Group (LAG) will serve as the fiscal sponsor for TALI, The Arrested Lawyers Initiative. TALI was founded in 2016 with the aim protecting Turkish lawyers from intimidation, reprisal and judicial harassment. Its reporting, advocacy and public events cover a wide range of themes, including judicial corruption, wrongful conviction, torture and impunity, the misuse of secure data and other human rights violations. TALI frequently partners with major international NGOs to raise awareness, expose injustice, and to press for reform. It has made submissions to the governments of Canada, the US and the UK to have notable human rights abusers in Turkey placed on the countries’ respective sanctions lists.
TALI’s newest project is to ensure the effective implementation of European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) rulings in Turkey.
