Most Mira (Bridge of Peace)
Most Mira (Bridge of Peace) was established in 2009 with the aim to support reconciliation and peace-building in the Prijedor area of Republika Srpska, Bosnia-Herzegovina. The organisation was founded by Kemal Pervanić, a survivor of the Omarska concentration camp set up during the 1992-1995 Bosnian war. Through the arts, peacebuilding residentials, and architectural projects, Most Mira provides safe spaces for ethnically segregated youth to interact, question imposed narratives about Bosnia’s conflictual past, and build relationships for a peaceful future. The organisation plans to convert the first house that was shelled in Kevljani (Prijedor) into a Peace Centre, located across the football field where locals were rounded up to be taken to the nearby Omarska camp. The Centre will feature cultural programming engaging youth from different ethnic backgrounds in the arts, peacebuilding, participatory architecture, and social enterprises, whilst also hosting visiting researchers.
