National Coalition of Human Rights Defenders in Kenya
Established in 2007, the National Coalition of Human Rights Defenders works to promote a safe and conducive working environment for human rights defenders in Kenya. Based in Nairobi, the Coalition aims to strengthen the capacity of defenders to work effectively and to reduce their vulnerability to the risk of persecution, including by advocating for a favourable legal and policy environment within the country. It convenes referral networks ensuring vulnerable activists have access to legal, medical, psychological, security support and relocation. The Coalition undertakes research, monitoring and documentation of cases and supports defenders through capacity building programmes.
