Peacebuilding UK

Peacebuilding UK is a charity founded in 2005 which aims to build local capacity for peace and support civil society organisations in the Russian Federation, mainly in the North Caucasus. They support and jointly implement projects with 11 partners in the region to promote sustainable peace and the enjoyment of human rights and wellbeing, with a particular focus on children, women and youth. SRT’s grant supports the Young Women’s Development Groups project, a collaboration initiated in 2011 by nine Chechen women’s rights and human rights NGOs. The project offers an intensive, rights-based extracurricular programme to teenage girls and, by this means, empowers the girls in a severely gender-unequal and repressive post-war society.
