The Platform for International Cooperation on Undocumented Migrants (PICUM) was founded in 2001 to promote respect for the human rights of undocumented migrants in Europe
The Platform for International Cooperation on Undocumented Migrants (PICUM) was founded in 2001 to promote respect for the human rights of undocumented migrants in Europe. PICUM is the only organisation exclusively dedicated to the concerns of an estimated 5 to 8 million undocumented migrants in Europe. The grant is to enable PICUM to implement a gender strategy to tackle the disproportionate discrimination against undocumented women. Their work to date has highlighted the extreme vulnerability and powerlessness of women with unregulated immigration status. The strategy focuses on three key issues: the exploitation of domestic workers; lack of protection for victims of violence; and inadequate access to healthcare, with a particular focus on reproductive and sexual healthcare services.
