Remake was founded in 2015 with the aim of holding the fashion industry to account on its environmental impact and labour rights practices, seeing these two fundamental issues as inextricably linked. The group publishes an annual accountability report, scoring nearly 100 brands on their corporate It liaises directly with executives from major fashion labels to encourage best practice in production, employee care and renumeration, and sustainability. Finally Remake also partners with a growing number of universities to educate young consumers and influence young professionals seeking to enter the clothing industry. The group boasts a network of over 1,500 ambassadors in 75 countries worldwide. Remake underpins its advocacy with pushes towards legislative change; in 2022, the group worked with lawmakers in to help draft and strengthen two bills: the federal Fashioning Accountability and Building Real Institutional Change (FABRIC) Act and the New York State Fashion Act.
