René Cassin
Founded in 2000, René Cassin promotes the legacy of its namesake (the draftsman of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights) by furthering observance and knowledge of universal human rights. Based in North London, the organisation draws on Jewish historical experience to campaign and educate others on selected human rights issues, particularly those involving discriminated or marginalised groups. The organisation focuses its campaigning in four areas: detention of asylum seekers; discrimination against Gypsies and Travellers; slavery and human trafficking; and protecting the UK Human Rights Act. René Cassin also undertakes educational activities focused on advocacy training and equipping participants with a knowledge of human rights.
