Birdlife Slovenia – DOPPS
Established in 1979 and headquartered in Ljubljana, Birdlife Slovenia is the largest conservation non-profit organisation in Slovenia and aims to protect birds and preserve their habitats. Through doing so, the organisation has made a major contribution to the conservation of Slovenia’s nature. DOPPS’ conservation practice is rooted in science, while it also works towards a vision where nature plays an important role in supporting the country’s development and public well-being. The organisation’s activities include biodiversity monitoring; ecosystem restoration; protected area designation and management; advocacy for law and policy change; capacity building support to regional organisations as well as educational activities that build public understanding of the value of nature and demand for nature protection.
