Women’s Fund Armenia
Established in 2018, Women’s Fund Armenia (the Fund) is the only feminist grant-making organisation in Armenia, which supports women and girl-led organisations, individual activists, and scholars through direct grants and capacity building. The Fund aims to contribute to building a strong and sustainable women’s movement, promoting local feminist philanthropy, and strengthening feminist discourses, safe spaces, and collective initiatives in Armenia. The Fund mobilises and allocates unrestricted funding to the most marginalised and vulnerable grassroots women’s groups in Armenia, including initiatives designed and led by adolescent girls. It prioritises women’s groups working at the intersection of multiple forms of discrimination, with little or no access to institutional funders, mostly based outside of the capital city. The Fund’s grantees work on a variety of themes, including reproductive rights, awareness-raising around violence against women, research on gender issues, artistic activism, social enterprises, and collective care. The Fund also supports women’s human rights defenders at risk through providing them with safe space and respite at its Gardens of Silidars, a healing space located in Ashtarak, outside of Yerevan.
